  • 2017 UCPS District Spelling Bee            

    Date:  Tuesday, January 31st

    Time:  9:30AM (Contestants should arrive by 9AM)

    Location: Central Academy of Technology and Arts

                         600 Brewer Drive  Monroe, NC 28110

    Make-Up Date:  Monday, February 6th 

    Winners from our forty elementary and middle schools will compete on January 31st in the 2017 UCPS Disrtict Spelling Bee held in the auditorium at Central Academy of Technology and Arts.  The winner will advance to represent Union County Public Schools in the The 63rd Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee held at Imagine On in Charlotte, NC.  

    In the event of inclement weather on January 31st , the district spelling bee will follow the schedule below:
     
    1 hour delay = The spelling bee will start at 10:30 AM and contestants should report at 10:00 AM 
    2 hour delay = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on Monday, February 6th
    No school = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on Monday, February 6th

The Elementary Education Department supports teachers and schools in providing a quality program for every elementary student in Union County Public Schools. The department helps schools develop a quality curriculum and researched-based instructional practices in order to establish a solid educational foundation for every student.

  •        Reviewing and providing materials and resources to support instruction
  •        Analyzing and interpreting data
  •        Creating benchmark and other formative assessments
  •        Supporting the implementation and delivery of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study

 

The Elementary Education Department works collaboratively with schools to ensure students have equal opportunities to an educational program that provides the academic development, knowledge, and skills necessary for success in the 21st Century.
