  • 2017 UCPS District Spelling Bee

    (Make-Up Date:  February 6, 2017) 

    School spelling bee winners from our 40 elementary and middle schools will compete in the 2017 UCPS District Spelling Bee on January 31, 2017.  The district winner will advance to represent Union County Public Schools in the 63rd Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee at ImagineOn in Charlotte, NC.

     In the event of inclement weather or delays on January 31, the district spelling bee will follow the schedule below:

    1 hour delay - Spelling bee will begin @ 10:30 AM. Contestants report @ 10:00 AM.

    2 hour delay - Spelling bee will take place on the make-up day, February 6.

    No School - Spelling Bee will take place on the make-up day, February 6.

The mission of the Department of Middle School Education is to provide support and resources to middle school administration, staff and students in order to maintain the middle school concept for the development of intelligent, compassionate and contributing citizens.

Middle School Education provides a variety of professional learning opportunities for staff and administrators.

The department develops and provides information resources such as the Handbook and Curriculum Guide for parents and the public.

Other functions of this department include facilitating events such as the Scripps Spelling Bee and Math 24.
