Senior Portrait Make-up Information
Make up senior portraits will be held Friday, August 19th beginning at 9:00 am in the Monroe High School gym lobby. Appointment information will be mailed to students who missed their previous appointment. If you do not receive appointment information in the mail, you may still stop by at any time that day as a walk in appointment. New to Monroe High School Information Session
For new families who are transitioning to Monroe High from another school in Union County, or are transitioning from another school out of the area/state, an information session will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9:15 am-9:45 am.
10th- 12th Grade Open House
Open House for rising 10th -12th grade parents/guardians and students will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9:00 am-11:00 am. The event will be similar to last year's event. Students will receive a copy of their schedule in the mail prior to Open House. At Open House, parents/guardians and students will have the opportunity to walk their schedules and meet their teachers. In addition, transportation and child nutrition representatives will be on site to answer any questions.
9th Grade Orientation
Monroe High will hold its 9th grade orientation for rising 9th graders on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 3:00 pm-4:30 p.m. We will have an opening session in our school auditorium where parents/guardians and students will hear from administrators, counselors and student leaders. Immediately following the presentation parents/guardians and students will have the opportunity to walk their first semester schedule and meet their teachers. Schedules will be mailed prior to orientation.
Driver Education Eye Test and Final Exam Information for July Class:
When: August 1, 2016 & August 3, 2016

Summer Reading List:
In an effort to increase reading to better prepare students for challenging North Carolina End of Course tests, North Carolina Final exams, Advanced Placement exams, the ACT, and the SAT, the English department is requiring mandatory summer reading for ALL students. Please carefully examine the requirements for your respective grade level at the link below; students should have the readings and/or assignments completed by the first day of class. Please note that this is slightly different from previous years; students should choose one text form their appropriate grade level list based on their interest. Students are not responsible for the entire list.

Summer Office Hours
Beginning Monday, June 13th through the week of August 12th, all UCPS schools on the traditional schedule follow a four-day workweek (Mon-Thurs). Office hours of operation will be Mondays and Tuesdays 7:30-5:30 pm. Also the office will operate on a half day schedule Wednesdays and Thursdays 7:30am - 11:30am. The office will be closed on Fridays throughout the summer. Office hours return to 7:30 am -4:30 pm beginning Monday, August 22nd.
