Dear Parents and Friends,
Thank you for taking time to visit this site to learn about our school! At Prospect Elementary, we believe that every child can learn. While test scores are just one way that measures accountability, there are many other factors that characterize a quality school. This information is located in one place, on the North Carolina School Report Card.
This report card includes information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources, and teacher quality. North Carolina School Report Card data will be available for each school, for each school district, and for the state's education system as a whole.
The numbers only tell part of the story. Our teachers are involved in professional development and planning sessions throughout the year to help develop their craft because we believe that we must grow as educators in order to help our students grow academically. Prospect embraces 21st century learning through the integration of technology in our classrooms. Our school utilizes an Instructional Technology Facilitator to help implement different forms of technology and programs in the classroom. With the support of our Instructional Curriculum Facilitator, our staff utilizes individual student data as well as school wide data to identify areas of need as well as strengths. We have begun to implement instructional shifts in how we monitor our students and then use that data to restructure our teaching.
Parent and community involvement is vital for our school’s success. We are appreciative of our dedicated parent groups and incredibly supportive community. We have frequent parent volunteers that assist faculty and staff in and out of the classrooms daily. Our PTO has implemented a CUB Kids program that recognizes our students for all of the exceptional things that they do at Prospect. We identify students for their individual accomplishments and reward students every grading period through this program and we are finding great success. Cub Kids helps us stay focused on the positive attributes of our students and allows for them to serve as role models and be rewarded in front of their peers for their hard work.
Prospect Elementary is very proud of the PTO involvement and the strong support and assistance from our volunteers. We encourage parents and community members to be involved and support our students as they develop into young adults. There are several great ways to find out what’s happening at Prospect Elementary. We have a PTO newsletter that is sent home monthly, our school website is constantly being updated and parents can also join our Prospect Elementary Facebook page for updates and event postings.
Please contact the school if you have any questions and thank you for your continued support.
