Dr. Ed Davis is named regional superintendent of the year
Dr. Davis bio information:
Dr. Ed Davis has been superintendent of the Union County Public Schools since 2005, bringing with him five years of experience as an assistant superintendent. He began his career in education in 1977 as a special education teacher in what was then the Monroe Schools. His first administrative job took him to Piedmont High School where he served as assistant principal from 1988 to 1990. He served as principal of Wingate Elementary from 1990 to 1994, and principal at Parkwood High School from 1994 to 2000. His awards include being named the Union County Educational Office Professionals Administrator of the Year in 1995 & 2009, the Union County Principal of the Year in 1996, he received the Jack McCall Award in 1997, and the North Carolina Southwest Regional Superintendent of the Year for 2009-2010. He was named a Principals’ Executive Program Fellow in 2001. Today he oversees the education of more than 39,000 students in 53 schools, which make up the sixth largest school system in North Carolina.
