Dylan Stamey (Principal)
About Mr. Stamey
Mr. Stamey is a native of Asheville, NC. Upon completion of high school, he attended Appalachian State University where he competed on the collegiate wrestling team and majored in psychology. His career in education began at his alma mater, Enka High, where he worked as a special education teacher from 2004-2013. While working at Enka High, he provided instruction in the Occupational Course of Study and inclusion courses across the curriculum, in addition to performing coaching duties for the wrestling team.
While completing his Master’s degree in Executive Leadership at Gardner-Webb University, Mr. Stamey relocated to the Charlotte, NC area where he worked as the Interim Dean of Students at Steele Creek Elementary School. During the 2014-2015 school year, he returned to the classroom as an Exceptional Children’s teacher at Marvin Ridge High School. Mr. Stamey accepted a position as Assistant Principal during the summer of 2015 at Piedmont High School, and was named Principal in 2019 where he continues to implement his philosophy that positive relationships are the key to academic success.
During his free time, Mr. Stamey enjoys spending time with his family; wife Tracy and daughters Hayden and Finley. Together they enjoy participating in athletic activities in addition to spending time outdoors.

Patrick Ledford (Assistant Principal)
About Mr. Ledford
Mr. Ledford is a Charlotte native and grew up attending Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He was raised in a family with high expectations regarding education and developing a strong work ethic.
He is the middle child in his family with two sisters. His older sister currently works at Myers Park High School as a social studies teacher/department chair and his younger sister is a school counselor at Lake Norman High School. Mr. Ledford grew up playing baseball and was an All-Conference catcher at North Mecklenburg High School. He also was a bullpen catcher for the Kannapolis Intimidators.
After graduating from North Mecklenburg High School, Mr. Ledford attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and obtained a degree in middle grades education. He taught mathematics for five years at Independence High School, while also serving as a baseball coach and a Principal Intern.
Mr. Ledford obtained his Master’s in School Administration through the UNCC Aspiring High School Principal’s program. Upon completion of his Master’s degree, Mr. Ledford served as the Dean of Students and sixth-grade administrator for two years at Ridge Road Middle School. He became an administrator because he has a passion for helping others and strives to make a positive difference school-wide. Being a Charlotte Native, Mr. Ledford loves the Carolina Panthers.

Dan Edwards (Assistant Principal)
About Mr. Edwards
Mr. Dan Edwards joined the administrative staff at Piedmont as an assistant principal in August 2020. Mr. Edwards has been with Union County Public Schools since 1996, where he started his career as a Biology teacher at Parkwood High School. He transitioned into administration in 2000 and has worked at different schools and levels as an assistant principal.
Edwards earned his Bachelors's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his Master's degree from Winthrop University. Edwards' wife is a long-time resident of Union County, and he has two sons. In addition, Edwards is a member of the North Carolina National Guard and returned from a deployment to the Middle East with the 30th ABCT "Old Hickory in August 2020.
