In the fall of 2020, the partnerships established with Atruim Health, South Piedmont Community College, and Wingate University will extend the health science program established at Monroe Middle School into the Health Sciences Academy at Monroe High School. This natural transition will provide incoming 9th grade Monroe High School students continued access to rigorous, highly engaging, health science learning experiences. Up to 100 academy participants will experience coursework, lab work, and field experiences in health science related pathways.

Clinical Health Sciences
Three clinical pathways will be available to students. Each pathway will prepare students for a career or college opportunity upon completion. Students will begin with Project Lead the Way Principles of Biomedical Science and Human Body Systems.The students' interest will then lead them on one of the three clinical pathways which include Nursing, Allied Health, or Emergency Medical Services. Elective courses will include topics related to public health, sports medicine, psychology, and pharmacy. The clinical pathway will allow Students to earn certifications and begin their career. Students may also choose to pursue health science related degrees at South Piedmont Community College or Wingate University.
Operations Health Sciences
Students will select one of three operational pathways based on their interest. These pathways include Business, Healthcare Information Technology, and Medical Equipment Biotechnology. Students will be able to earn certifications and begin their career. Students may also choose to pursue business and information technology or other health science related degrees at South Piedmont Community College or Wingate University.
