Forest Hills High School was established in 1960. In its over 50 years of operation, the school has served the communities of Wingate, Marshville, and surrounding areas in eastern Union County. The school's 900 students receive quality instruction and a variety of extracurricular opportunities every day.
Forest Hills High School exceeded growth on the NC School Report Card for the 2018-19 school year.

Forest Hills has an outstanding Student Council. In 2019, FHHS Student Council won the 2019 Southern Association of Student Councils Award in Outstanding Projects for Community Service Outreach for their Walter Bickett Christmas. The award was presented during the SASC conference in Sulphur, LA. They have been awarded Honor Council numerous times at the state convention and have many members who have been inducted into the North Carolina Student Council Hall of Fame.
FHHS Student Council's theme for the school year is "Individual Jackets Building a Better Hive." They wanted to focus on Forest Hills as a safe, caring, inclusive environment that allows students to be themselves and to reach their highest potential.
Forest Hills is one of the UCPS schools receiving the EPIC grant, a grant that provides extensive professional development and incentives to teachers and administrators who work in a high priority environment and meet performance goals.
Forest Hills High School's Track Team and Men's Basketball Team were both State Champions in 2018.
Forest Hills High School's Men's Basketball Team is in the Final Four of the state playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
