Analysis of Student Work (ASW)

  • Analysis of Student Work (ASW) is an NC DPI process.for using evidence of student work to show student growth. Union County Public Schools will use the Davidson Plan for our local flexibility model.

    Who will participate in ASW?

    Specified educators in Advanced Placement, Arts Education, Healthful Living, International Baccalaurate, and World Languages..

    Guidelines to determine participation:

    • High School -  Educators teaching high school credit courses* in AP, Arts Education, Healthful Living, IB, and World Languages:
      • If 60% of an educator's classes are in ASW subject areas, then the educator must participate in both ASW .
    • Middle School  
      • Educators who have 45 minutes per week scheduled with students in these content areas are required to participate in ASW.
    *Please note that locally developed electives that do not follow the standards set forth in the NC Standard Course of Study are not included in the ASW process.
     
  • Elementary School 
  • Educators who do not have 45 minutes per week scheduled with students in these content areas are not required to participate in ASW.
  •  
    Teachers are exempt from the ASW process if they are on approved extended leave for:
    • 20 or more consecutive days in a year-long calendar, or 
    • 10 or more consecutive days in a semester block schedule
