Employee Biographical Information

I began my teaching career as a Special Education Teacher in Swansboro, NC.  After 7 years I decided I wanted my Masters degree and I loved the library and reading so I decided to get it in Library Science.  I went to East Carolina University and graduated in May 2010.  I moved to the library in 2007 in a middle school.  I spent 5 years as a Media Coordinator and an Instructional Technology Facilitator.  Then my family was transfered to Western NC.  I became the Media Coordinator at Swain Middle School.  I was there 4 years and we were transfered here.  I moved to Union County in January 2016.  I started working at Walter Bickett Elementray School as a Special Education Teacher in July 2016.  I decided I wanted to go back into the library and started here at the Health Sciences Academy at Monroe Middle School this year. 

I have been married for 25 years and have a 17 and 15 year old.  I also have 3 dogs!

How do you build rapport with students? I build rapport by valuing the thoughts and opinions of all students.  I believe in treating students fairly and letting them know that they truly matter to me.
