Degrees and Certifications:
Emily Butler, 6th Grade
Ms. Butler is in her fourth year of counseling at SVMS. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University. She then worked at a group home as a Cottage Parent where she maintained the functioning of a cottage with nine 14-17 year old girls who were placed in the group home due to a past of trauma. After this experience, she attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she completed her Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in School Counseling. During her Master’s program, she counseled children in both the high school and middle school settings. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).
She believes that each child has unique qualities and strengths and wants to give students opportunities to find and express those qualities and strengths in healthy ways. She desires to empower students to live authentically and meaningfully both in and out of school.
Ms. Butler enjoys being outdoors, trail running, reading, and writing poetry.
