Important Change Concerning Freshmen Interested in Beta Club:
This year, Beta Club set a goal to invite freshmen into membership after the first six weeks. Our thought process was that we wanted freshmen to be involved sooner, and that they could benefit from a full year of service in Beta Club.
After re-examining our national bylaws, however, we ran into the issue of students needing a 3.5 unweighted GPA. Because GPA is not set until the end of the first semester, it would be unfair and inconsistent to invite students who meet the criteria for Beta club after only the first six weeks. Grades throughout the semester can fluctuate widely.
After discussing this with administration, we have made the difficult but ultimately appropriate decision to postpone inviting freshmen to Beta Club until we have their accurate GPAs from the fall semester.
A few freshmen already filled out the membership form at the beginning of the year and paid their new member dues. While we appreciate their enthusiasm, we will review their GPAs at the semester and will confirm their membership in the spring. These freshmen are not obligated to fulfill fall service requirements at this time.

Membership requirements: Students in grades 9-12 - maintain unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher - no discipline issues resulting in ISS or OSS - complete 8 hours of community service per semester.
Dues: $25 for new members (One-time $15 National Beta Club dues and $10 yearly local dues) $10 for returning members.
