Dr. John Jones
Dr. John Jones joined Central Services in 2009 as the director of middle school education. He supervises the area of instructional programming, assessment, and student services for UCPS. He targets support and innovation in the areas of globalization, graduation and innovation.
He maintains the goal to align instructional design and technology processes. Through creative programming and seeking alternative methods for instructional framework, delivery and support, the school system attains one of the highest student performance ratings in the state (highest among the 10 largest districts in North Carolina.)
Dr. Jones' work and collaboration with the superintendent and district leadership have led UCPS to attain a cohort graduation rate of 93 percent.
He was a classroom teacher for six years and has 13 years experience as a principal in five schools, both elementary and middle. He was chosen as the teacher of the year for Wesley Chapel Elementary School, and the UCPS Principal of the Year in 2008. He received the NCASA Lighthouse Award for Innovative Programming in 2007.
Dr. Jones serves as a board member for the North Carolina Association of Curriculum and School Development, and was a national finalist for a board seat. He serves as a board member for the Union County Arts Association and the Museum of the Waxhaws.
He is also a member of Who's Who among American Colleges and Universities.
