Mark Strickland

Mark Strickland is the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Operations for Union County Public Schools (UCPS).

He comes to UCPS from eastern North Carolina, where he held several positions with Nash-Rocky Mount Schools that included Special Assistant for Auxiliary Services, Executive Director of Operations and Director of Facility Planning. In addition to overseeing facilities, maintenance, child nutrition and transportation, he also managed environmental services, custodial services and purchasing. He also managed all aspects of the district’s building program, from land purchases and project design to bidding, project management and closeout on over $100 million in new construction, additions and renovations.

His experience also includes work on capital bond construction programs with Wake County Public Schools (Heery), New Hanover County Schools and Nash-Rocky Mount Schools.

Additionally, he is the former president of North Carolina Educational Facility Planners and was successful in the implementation of an energy conservation program which led to substantial savings for his former school district. He has also served as a district liaison with numerous local, state and federal agencies.

A graduate of NC State University, Mark and his wife Cheri have three children.
