    2019 UCPS District Spelling Bee            

    Date:  Thursday, January 24th

    Time:  9:30 AM (Contestants should arrive by 9 AM)

    Location: Central Academy of Technology and Arts

    600 Brewer Drive  Monroe, NC 28110

    Make-Up Date:  Wednesday, January 30th

    Winners from our forty elementary and middle schools will compete on January 24th in the 2018 UCPS District Spelling Bee held in the auditorium at Central Academy of Technology and Arts.  The winner will advance to represent Union County Public Schools in the 65th Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee held at ImagineOn in Charlotte, NC on February 25, 2018.

    In the event of inclement weather on January 24th, the district spelling bee will follow the schedule below:

    1 hour delay = The spelling bee will start at 10:30 AM and contestants should report at 10:00 AM 

    2 hour delay = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on  Wednesday, January 30th

    No school = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on Wednesday, January 30th.

     

    2018 SCRIPPS National Spelling Bee - Washington, D.C.

    Eva Vega started the National Spelling Bee as #350 out of 521 contestants and after three days of competition Eva qualified as one of the 41 contestants to make it to the ESPN-live televised round of competition on Thursday, May 31, 2018.   Congratulations, Eva !!!

    2018 Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee - UCPS Eva Vega is the Winner!

    UCPS District Spelling Bee Winner, Eva Vega, competed against 25 other contestants from thirteen counties in the Carolinas to win the 64th Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee on MOnday, February 19, 2018 at ImaginOn theater in Charlotte, NC.  As first place winner, Eva won an all-expenses paid trip for two to the SCRIPPS National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

    Congratulations to our district winner, Eva Vega, a 8th grader from Marvin Ridge Middle School.  Best wishes to Eva as ahe now advances to represent Union County Public Schools in the The 64th Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee held at Imagine On in Charlotte, NC.
