UCPS Holiday Card Contest
UCPS is looking for students to create festive artwork to celebrate this upcoming holiday season.
Any student who is currently enrolled in UCPS is eligible to participate. One entry per student.
Ten submissions will be chosen as finalists, and one will be announced as the winner.
A selection committee will review submissions based upon the following criteria:
- Holiday Spirit
- Ability to be reproduced
Judging will take place among Central Services staff. Each entry will be assigned a number and will be voted upon by ballot box.
The winning submission will be featured as the cover of the UCPS Holiday Card with the student's name, grade and school. The winner will also receive a certificate from the Board of Education, a special gift, and recognition on the district website and social media platforms.
The 10 finalists will have their work featured on the UCPS website in a photo gallery and on social media beginning Nov. 5, 2020.
Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. For example, no artworks depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books will be accepted. All artworks must be original ideas and created entirely by the student.
Artwork Theme: Happy Holidays
Submissions should reflect holiday spirited or winter themes. Artwork may not reference or contain images related to specific religious holidays.
The final card size will be 8.5 inches wide x 6 inches tall. Please create all artwork to fit these proportions. The artwork may be larger, but will be scaled to fit these final dimensions. Any artwork smaller than this size will not be considered. The winning artwork may be modified for production purposes. No electronic artwork will be accepted.
Media and Technique:
Two-dimensional media may be submitted. Artwork that does not meet the size and quality requirements will not be considered. Artwork should not smear/smudge and must be dry.
Deadline for Entries:
All entries must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.
Entries submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Entries that are not chosen to be among the finalists or as the final artwork can be picked up at the UCPS Central Office if desired.
Notification of Finalists:
Finalists will be notified on Nov. 4, 2020.

All entries must include the student's name, grade level, teacher’s name (elementary schools) and school, a phone number and an email address.
Union County Public Schools will retain all reproduction rights to submitted artwork with credit given to the artist. By submission, Artists agree to assign all copyrights for the artwork to Union County Public Schools. Entries must be original in concept and work and not violate any artist or copyright laws.
