Hello! My name is Mrs. Jessica Gutierrez. I was born and raised in northern Indiana, but I’ve spent the last six years in Lima, Peru. I have my B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in School Administration. I also have an ESL endorsement. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career in a small school in northern Indiana where I taught in third grade for three years. In 2013, I moved to Lima, Peru to teach in a bilingual school. I was there for six years, and I taught everything from third to fifth grades. I also served as English and Science Curriculum Coordinator. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy traveling, learning about other cultures, going to the beach, and spending time outdoors with my family. I’m so excited to be here at Weddington Elementary!
I’m originally from Syracuse, NY and 27 years ago, I married my best friend, Ray Wallon. We went to high school and college together and have 4 children. Rachel (24) teaches at East Elementary in Monroe, Natalie (22) is getting her Master’s certificate at Syracuse University and is captain of the lacrosse team, Rob (21) is a senior at East Carolina University and my youngest, Regan (19) is a sophomore at East Carolina both majoring in marketing. We are enjoying our empty nest….even though it’s much quieter. When I’m not at school, I love to travel in our RV van, go to my daughter’s lacrosse games, hike, camp and read. This is my 21st year teaching. I’ve taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades all in this building!!! I’m very excited about this year and feel blessed to be a part of the DLI program here at Weddington.
