  •             2018 UCPS District Spelling Bee

    (Contestants should arrive by 9 AM)

    Make-Up Date:  Tuesday, January 30th

    Winners from our forty elementary and middle schools will compete on January 17th in the 2018 UCPS District Spelling Bee held in the auditorium at Central Academy of Technology and Arts.  The winner will advance to represent Union County Public Schools in the 64th Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee held at ImagineOn in Charlotte, NC on February 19, 2018.

    In the event of inclement weather on January 17th, the district spelling bee will follow the schedule below:

    1 hour delay = The spelling bee will start at 10:30 AM and contestants should report at 10:00 AM 

    2 hour delay = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on Tuesday, January 30th

    No school = The spelling bee will be rescheduled to the make-up day on Tuesday, January 30th

  • The mission of the Department of Middle School Education is to provide support and resources to middle school administration, staff and students in order to maintain the middle school concept for the development of intelligent, compassionate and contributing citizens.

    Middle School Education provides a variety of professional learning opportunities for staff and administrators.

    The department develops and provides information resources such as the Handbook and Curriculum Guide for parents and the public.

    Other functions of this department include facilitating events such as the Scripps Spelling Bee and Math 24.
