Ms. Kristen Sebek
Ms. Sebek was born and raised in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, just north of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Sebek moved to North Carolina in 1995 to become a teacher with Union County Public Schools. During her teaching career, she taught First Grade for two years and Second Grade for six years. While teaching, she received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wingate University. In 2003, Ms. Sebek was awarded a scholarship with the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Master's in Administration and Curriculum. Upon completion of an internship at Indian Trail Elementary School, Ms. Sebek served one year as the Assistant Principal at Marvin Elementary. She also spent three years as an Assistant Principal at New Town Elementary when it opended its doors in 2007. Ms. Sebek came to Weddington Elementary after serving four successful years as the Assistant Principal at Rocky River Elementary.
Currently in her fourth year as the Principal of Weddington Elementary, Ms. Sebek is excited about the growth in learning the Wildcats continue to exhibit. Weddington Elementary School continues to be one of the highest performing elementary schools in the state. Ms. Sebek attributes the achievements to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and the support of all Weddington stakeholders.

Ms. Sebek resides in Matthews with her son, Mason, and their dog, Duncan. They find the most enjoyment spending time with family and loved ones. In her spare time, Ms. Sebek loves to be with her son, exercising at the gym, reading, and going to the beach. She also currently serves on the Advisory Board for the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union.
