Terri Adams (Principal)
About Mrs. Adams
Mrs. Terri Adams is in her first year as principal of Weddington Elementary School. She has served UCPS since 2004 as an ELA and AIG teacher at Parkwood Middle and Weddington Middle, and as a High School English Facilitator and Instructional Coach at Parkwood High before joining the administration team as Assistant Principal in 2019.
Her background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications at the University of Georgia, a Master of Arts in Teaching at UNC-Charlotte and National Board Certification, and Post-Graduate Certification in Administration at Wingate University. Mrs. Adams previously worked in public relations at Roanoke College and in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs. Adams and her husband, Bill, are both avid runners and hikers. Their six children live in three states and two countries! Mrs. Adams is excited to return to the Weddington community and build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Katie Colson (Assistant Principal)
About Ms. Colson
Ms. Katie Colson is in her first year as an assistant principal at Weddington Elementary School. She has served in UCPS as an instructional support specialist at Weddington Elementary School in the 2022-2023 school year.
Ms. Colson is originally from Georgia and moved to North Carolina in 2022. The 2023-24 school year will be her 22nd year in education. She is certified to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. Her background includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University, a Masters in Education Degree and Specialist in Education Degree from Troy State University. She is currently enrolled at Wingate University in their Post-Graduate Certification in Administration.
Ms. Colson has one son who is currently attending Weddington Elementary. She is excited to continue to be a part of the Weddington Community. She looks forward to getting to know you, your children, and your families. Ms. Colson is thankful for the opportunity to build strong relationships with the teachers and staff.
