Marvin Elementary - Administration
Mrs. Piatko was born and raised in a suburb near Buffalo, NY. She moved to North Carolina in 2005.
She started her educational journey as a participant in the “Future Teachers Program” in high school. Her experience in the program validated her strong desire to be a teacher. Mrs. Piatko earned a Bachelor's degree in both Elementary and Special Education from Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. She continued her education by earning her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Mrs. Piatko also earned her School Administration license from Wingate University.
Mrs. Piatko began her career as a special education teacher. However, over the years she has served in many roles which includes a classroom teacher (K, 1st, 3rd, 5th), Early Intervention Program evaluator, literacy interventionist, and Curriculum Support. Mrs. Piatko comes to Marvin Elementary from Marshville where she was an Assistant Principal for two years.
Mrs. Piatko and her family reside in Waxhaw, NC. She has four children that attend schools in UCPS. When Mrs. Piatko is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. Mrs. Piatko is happy and eager to serve as an educational leader at Marvin Elementary.
