Dr. Michelle Newnam

Michelle Newnam grew up in Charlotte where she moved when she was five years old.  She attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte earning a B.F.A., Queens University at Charlotte earning a M.S.A, and University of North Carolina at Charlotte earning an Ed.D in Educational Leadership.  

Dr. Newnam has taught at the elementary, middle and high school level with the last eight years at Crestdale Middle School in Matthews. While working in CMS, Dr. Newnam worked at the district level designing performance assessments and rubrics, taught at the CMS Teacher Institute, at the state level reviewed, critiqued, and rewrote performance assessment prototypes,

Michelle lives in Charlotte with her three children, Kaytlin, Mason, and Max. Kaytlin is a senior and will be a freshman at Appalachian State, Mason is a sophomore who swims competitively, and Max is in eighth grade and is an avid fly fisherman who loves to tie his own flies.

Dr. Newnam loves being outdoors.  Camping and hiking in the mountains is an all-time favorite.  She enjoys running and cycling in the afternoons.
