Cuthbertson Middle School NC Report Card

  • October 31, 2021

Dear Studetns, Parents and Community Members,

Each year the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction releases  the NC School Report Card.  As in previous years, the report provides a snapshot of each school’s performance including; student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources and teacher quality. The North Carolina General Assembly’s (GA) Session Law 2012-142 included specifications for reporting School Performance Grades (A, B, C, D, and F) for each public school and public charter school.  This grade is calculated using the performance composite from our school, how many students passed the test, and the growth index for our school. The performance composite will be worth 80% of our school's overall grade and the growth index is worth 20%.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the North Carolina State Board of Education has decided to waive school performance grades and growth indicators for the 2020-2021 school year.  The state will release NC Report Cards, but these report cards will not include school performance grades.

At Cuthbertson Middle School we continue to utilize the team teaching philosophy.  In doing so, we allow students to develop a greater sense of community in the school as we also begin to allow them to establish independence within a safe environment as they learn the skills that will be necessary to live successfully in the world around them. Meeting the diverse needs of each student remains the school’s top priority, as we work towards continuing the tradition of excellence in academic and social growth for all students.

This year Cuthbertson Middle School has continued its commitment to helping every child grow through our academic enrichment time held during team and activity time each week.  Our grade level teams and departments continue to develop common assessments and make data-driven decisions to optimize individual, content, grade level and school-wide improvement in our academic achievement.

Numbers do not tell the entire story of our school’s progress and achievements.  The numbers only tell part of our story. Our dedicated staff provides a high quality, standards-based education that is focused on student learning and data driven results.  Our staff work diligently to provide the enrichment and/or intervention needed for all students.

At Cuthbertson Middle School, parent involvement is vital to the success of our school.  Pleae review the report card and feel free to contact me anytime to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

We look forward to another year as we serve the needs of our students, families, and stakeholders.
