Cuthbertson Middle School NC Report Card
September 30, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Federal guidelines require that schools provide you with updates about our school’s overall achievement through the North Carolina School Report Card (SRC). This school report card includes important information about each individual school as well as student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, student discipline, instructional resources, and teacher quality. (A complete version of the SRC is available online at https://ncreports.ondemand.sas.com/src/.)
Specifically, North Carolina evaluates its schools based on End-of-Grade (EOG) assessment proficiency and overall student growth (by measuring expected progress against actual progress). During the 2021-22 school year, Cuthbertson Middle School (CMS) received a school performance total of 78, which equates to a North Carolina report card grade of “B” with a ‘did not meet’ student growth designation. Our school, like many schools across the country, had to respond to the shifting educational environment presented during the pandemic. This school data evidences that the effects of learning loss still affected our overall school performance this past school year.
We celebrate that last year’s school data showcases gains from the previous school year’s results, which shows us that our students are beginning to close the learning gaps the pandemic created. At CMS, we are striving to return to our pre-pandemic results. Our school goal is to earn a report card grade of “A” and to exceed student growth expectations.
Moving forward, our teachers & staff are dedicated to providing a high-quality, standards-based education that is focused on student learning and data-driven results. Our teachers will be utilizing student data to inform daily instruction & work with small groups of students within their classrooms to both remediate and enrich instruction regularly. There's a sense of urgency to close any learning gaps; each instructional minute counts for our CAVS.
The past few years have certainly presented challenges for our students, but together, our students will continue to achieve great success. We celebrate our achievements, as they reflect the efforts of all CMS stakeholders-- students, staff, and parents.
As always, we appreciate the opportunity to serve your child and your ongoing support of the work underway at our school.
