Dear Parents and Friends:
Monroe Middle is an excellent school in which to learn and grow. Every day we embrace our diverse population and strive to meet each student’s needs academically, socially and culturally. This determination, collaboration, and sustained emphasis on alignment to our standards with high expectations will contribute to our effectiveness in a positive way.
Students at our school are provided enrichment and remediation in our daily schedule. Our teachers are using data to identify students who are in need of extra support or are ready to be challenged at the next level. Each student is provided 40 minutes of “Student Success” time each day. Students meeting grade level standards participate in enrichment activities with related arts teachers, while students in need of extra help work with core area teachers on each individuals' areas of deficiency using small group instruction and I-Ready. We are dedicated to giving our students every opportunity to experience success here at MMS.
Students in our 8th grade have an opportunity to take a year-long related arts courses, such as Spanish, dance and band. The Redhawk band has nearly 150 active members, and our choral, dance and drama groups perform several times throughout the year. Their performances are a sense of pride for our school and the community we serve.
At Monroe Middle we have a renewed focus on PBIS this school year. Our PBIS initiative recognizes students for positive behavior and successful academic performance. Our PBIS Motto is "B4 - Be Prepared, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe. We believe that all of our students can be successful in the classroom when the right amount of self-discipline and self-motivation for academic success are in place. Our focus at Monroe Middle School is providing a safe learning environment for students to reach their full academic potential.
