Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:
I hope all of you have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer as well as a great start to the school year. I know that you, like all of us at Monroe Middle, cannot believe how quickly these last few weeks have flown by.
Our teachers are motivated and continue to look forward to the tasks that lie ahead with the start of each new day. We have welcomed new & highly qualified staff members to Monroe Middle School and they have been a great addition to our already strong staff. We also are enriching our amazing instruction by implementing Readers and Writers Workshop throughout the entire building. As well as reviewing and enhancing our current mathematical program to help our scholars gain a deeper understanding of math concepts.
We have started the school year with approximately 1,000 students, and we continue to support and nurture each of them while providing the highest quality education possible. After reviewing last year’s parent and student surveys, we are continuing to work on providing a safe learning environment for all students during the 2017-2018 school year. We also would like more feedback on a regular basis, so to accomplish this we have created the “MMS Parent Council.” We had our first meeting a few weeks ago and it was quite successful. We will notify the community as each meeting is scheduled because your
We are also focused on building culture and community between our students and staff this year. It is important that students feel as though they have an adult in the building that they can have a positive relationship with and who will be their advocate. Scholars will also be setting academic and behavioral goals that will be monitored throughout the year and celebrated. We cannot wait to see how the students excel throughout the year.
I realize the first few weeks of school can be stressful for everyone as students become familiar with new schedules, procedures, and bus routes. Please remember to be patient and keep a positive attitude while we work as a team through these issues.
