    • Theatre Arts Pathway

The goal of Central Academy’s Performing Arts program is to further prepare serious, career-focused students for the expectations of a professional lifestyle in the performing arts. Students will be able to hone their current skills through a variety of program-specific courses that will lead to a well-rounded candidate. Gaining insight into the many facets of performance will enable the successful student to feel more comfortable on stage, behind the scenes, or in a studio.

Students will select from one of three pathways in the performing arts field. Auditions will be held prior to acceptance to the school, emphasizing not only talent but creativity through expression. During all four years of high school, the dedicated student will be able to perfect and continue to master the skills of their chosen profession.

    College Advantage

Use your high school career to give yourself an edge when you enter college or further technical study. Central Academy will offer all the required subjects for any four-year university, plus you will get the chance to work with talented artists in their own right. Instructors will provide professional and diverse approaches to a variety of disciplines in dance, theatre, and music production.

    Primary Performing Arts Courses

    Dance

is a sequential and discipline-based program that places emphasis on aesthetic understandings and training the body as an instrument of communication and expression. Students will explore problem-recognition and problem-solving processes through the technical skills acquired from a movement-based approach to learning. You will be able to express yourself in your own choreographed works. Students will develop skills in making aesthetic judgements based upon personal experiences in order to evaluate and critique their own work. Dance is a language unto itself.

    Music Production and Recording Arts

is designed for students who wish to explore the intersection of music and technology.  The curriculum in this pathway creates a solid foundation both in musicianship and technology with coursework focused on music theory, aural skills, applied music performance, introduction to music technology, recording studio techniques, music production and music business.  Students in the Music Production and Recording Arts pathway will build music literacy in their first year of study in music theory and performance ensembles such as class piano, symphonic band or chorus.  Technology, production, and recording coursework will follow in subsequent years, along with the continued participation in performance ensembles and options for higher level study in areas such as music theory/composition and film production.  Successful completion of the coursework in this pathway provides students with a well rounded music background and the technology skills needed to pursue undergraduate programs in music, music industry, and music production.

    Theatre Arts

at Central Academy will enable the talented student to further embrace their performances and dramatic expose's of life’s ups and downs. Students will be exposed to a variety of theatrical styles and disciplines in order to prepare individuals as actors or technicians. Classroom work will become more formal through individualized courses and the broad range of aspects related to a successful theatre production. Related technical courses include Technical Theatre, Visual Art, Theatre Arts, Costume Design, Dance and Chorus.
