Parents, thanks for a great first two days in the car rider line. Please remember to remain in your car at dismissal time and we will call for your child to stand at one of 6 designated spots along our sidewalk. Please do not park and walk inside to pick up your child at dismissal.
Shiloh families: Please note that our amazing Guidance Counselor Mrs. Monica McGinniss is currently on maternity leave. We wish her the very best as she enjoys time with her new baby boy. Mrs. McGinniss will return to Shiloh on Tuesday, September 5. In the meantime, please send any related concerns to Mr. Spencer and/or Mrs. Aldredge and we will ensure that your needs are met. Thank you.
Mr. Spencer’s phone message to parents on July 20, 2017:
Good evening Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few announcements. First, I want to thank everyone for a great opening day! Our school was ready this morning, and we opened our doors to our 101st school year! I speak for all of the staff here when I say it was a very smooth day, and we loved seeing our new and returning students. We had several visitors from UCPS Central Services today, including our Superintendent Dr. Houlihan, and we want to publicly thank the entire UCPS staff for their on-going and strong support of Shiloh.
Just a reminder, parents, to please make sure our teachers know how your children will go home each day. Any transportation changes must be done in writing, and not over the phone or by word from a student. Students will go home by their normal means if we do not receive a transportation change in writing.
We realize that parents like to walk students to their classes in the morning, and we appreciate your support. However, students will begin walking by themselves to class in the morning during the week of August 14. Thank you in advance as we foster a spirit of independence in our students, and we also allow our teachers to begin their instructional day at 7:15.
Please direct any questions about the cafeteria or the Shiloh After School Program to the respective directors.
Please allow our buses a 10 minute window in the mornings and afternoons to account for possible traffic or other delays.
Also, please remind your children to only bring items to school that are appropriate for school. These would include school supplies and other items requested by the teachers. As we are coming off of the summer break, this is a good time to remind your children of this, and to check their book bags in the mornings to ensure that only appropriate items are brought to school.
Lastly, please feel free to reach out to us in the coming days if we can be of any assistance. Remember to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, e-news, and our website. Our school calendar is updated and posted on the Shiloh website. Also, please check out the link on our website for #ShilohReads. We are proud of our literacy program at Shiloh, and we want to share the great things we are doing here while also asking for your support in ensuring that our students are reading daily while not at school.
Thank you again, and have a good night.

On Thursday, July 20 Shiloh opened its doors for the 101st time! Our school day began with our excited and cheerful staff members greeting hundreds of smiling students and parents. The Shiloh staff has worked very hard over the summer to prepare for our new group of students, and everything was in place. Shiloh’s front office staff members Mrs. Boone replied, “The first day of school was a smooth day!”
The faculty and staff of Shiloh Elementary would like to welcome you and your child to a new school year! As a school community, we believe in maintaining high standards and expectations for our students. We are proud to say that we were a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School, and we met our expected growth on the 2016 NC End of Grade tests.
