Announcements

  • Union County Public Schools values the feedback of our students, parents and staff.  In an effort to continue high quality, rigorous learning experiences and social-emotional support for students, the school district has partnered with Panorama Education to administer a survey to 3rd – 12th graders. The survey window is February 24 – March 10 and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The link will be sent via Canvas and students will need their Student ID for access. Panorama safeguards student privacy and all responses will be kept confidential.

The survey results will be used to improve support and resources at the school and district level.

  • The Hands Helping Others Club is hosting a collection drive for Bright Blessings, a charity that helps kids in lower-income situations experience all the fun parts of being a kid such as birthday parties, and offers them a chance to have books, coloring materials, stuffed animals, and a lot more. There will be posters and boxes up in the hallways that have lists of things we would really appreciate for people to bring in. Prizes are going by Academy, so donate as much as you can to make sure that your academy wins! Our prize for the Academy with the highest amount of donations is a Virtual Academy Party! This party will be filled with door-prizes and fun activities for your academy alone, so donate as much as you can! We would really love for everyone to donate what they can between March 1st and March 19th, for more information please contact Cynthia Hinson via email or in room 517.

  • Current Juniors Meningococcal Vaccine Requirement
In 2015, the State of North Carolina added Meningococcal vaccine to the school required immunizations.  The first dose of Meningococcal vaccine, MCV, was given to this year’s Juniors prior to the start of 7th grade as a school required vaccine.  The second dose of this vaccine is required prior to the start of the Senior year, the 2021-22 school year.

If your child does not currently have evidence of the MCV vaccine, please contact your child’s health care provider to obtain it.  Following administration of the vaccine, please submit a copy of the record to the school nurse yet this school year. This documentation must be on file here at school prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year to meet this school enrollment requirement. Individuals born before 1/1/2003 are exempt from this requirement.

For complete details and explanations, please review the website https://immunize.nc.gov/schools/ncruleslaws.htm for NC general statutes 130A-157.

Thank you for your timely attention to this matter. If you have any questions, our school nurse will certainly be available to you as a resource.  Please contact her at 704-296-3088 or by email at monica.newsome@ucps.k12.nc.us.
