    Puppy Day
    Have you ever wanted to snuggle a puppy? Of course you have! CATA is partnering with Project 2 Heal to bring dogs for our students and staff to play with on May 29! Tickets are $5 for a 20-minute session. Tickets will be on sale from May 12-16 during all lunches. Only cash will be accepted and we are taking donations as well. All proceeds go to Project 2 Heal and the amazing work they do to unite service dogs with people in need. See Ms. Cole if you have questions.

  • Toiletry Drive flyer
    Toiletry Drive for Shelter
    Are you in Beta Club or NHS? Are you looking for ways to get service hours before time runs out? Well, you're in luck! The NAACP Youth Council is hosting a toiletry drive for the homeless shelter in Monroe. You can find specific items to donate on the posters around school and should drop off your donations in the brown collection boxes. The last day to drop off items is May 15. Please check your NHS and Beta Club announcements for more detail. Thanks!

    Yearbooks are on sale for $85. Go to yearbookforever.com to buy your book! Yearbooks will be distributed on 5/23 to seniors during Cougar Time and to everyone else during a signing party right after school in the cafeteria on 5/23. If you can't attend, pick up your book on Tuesday, 5/27 during lunch.

  • Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM)
    The Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) application window begins on May 1 and closes on May 23. No late applications will be accepted.

    Class of 2025, make sure you have read the senior letter and are familiar with the process for requesting more graduation tickets, the procedure for graduation, when to attend graduation practice, and what's happening during senior week!

  • Book your senior portraits today
    Class of 2026 Senior Pictures:
    You must be photographed by CADY to be in the yearbook. Get photos for grad announcements, senior yearbook ads, and flawless Insta posts.

    1. Go to cady.com/schedule to book your senior shoot through CADY
    2. Click on Book Now and then start typing in Central Academy to choose our school.
    3. You will have to select two scenes and then click Select Scenes. Outdoor scenes are part of an elite package.
    4. If you only want a basic session, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select Simple Session for $29.00.
    5. Confirm your choice and Continue to finalize.
    6. You can add extras if you wish, but if you're not interested, just move past this page.
    7. Your location will be the CADY Studios on Crownpoint Executive Drive unless you select the school road shoot that is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th.
    8. For families that will be using their own photographer for senior pictures, there will be a yearbook-only shoot at the school, probably in October. 
    9. The last day to be photographed to be included in the yearbook is November 3rd. 
    10. You will receive a portfolio of pictures in the mail, and you can choose to buy some or just return the whole portfolio using the postage-paid label included in your mailing.
    11. For the yearbook picture, we will accept one of the formal photos from CADY that's either in a tux, drape, or casual outfit that's black or black and white with the formal background.

Items are available for children and adults.   • Register to Volunteer in UCPS Schools: The district has a volunteer registration process. If you'd like to volunteer in any of the UCPS schools you must complete the volunteer registration form located at https://www.ucpsvolunteers.com. This even applies to people who had registered in previous years.

  • Current Juniors Meningococcal Vaccine Requirement: Important message for current 11th grade students regarding the Meningitis C vaccination requirement. The first dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV) was given prior to the start of 7th grade as a school required vaccine.  North Carolina Immunization Law requires the second dose of MCV for all students entering 12th grade. For complete details and explanations, please review the website https://immunize.nc.gov/schools/ncruleslaws.htm for NC general statutes 130A-157.If your child does not currently have evidence of the second MCV vaccine, please contact your child’s health care provider to obtain it.  Following administration of the vaccine, please submit a copy of the record to the School Nurse. This documentation must be obtained within 30 days of the start of the 2024-25 school year to meet this school enrollment requirement. Thank you for your timely attention to this matter. If you have any questions, our School Nurse will certainly be available to you as a resource.  Please contact her at 704-296-3088.
