    It is fascinating to walk into the 6th grade Chinese immersion classroom and listen to the students give presentations in fluent Mandarin Chinese.

  • Thanking our first responders

    The anniversary of 9/11 this year overlapped with a tragedy our community was facing, storm Florence. When Ms. Cudmore shared some of her memories of 2001 with her students this year, she reminded them that like those first responders who helped so many people 17 years ago, first responders would also soon be working hard here to assist before, during and after hurricane Florence.

    Seventh grade students participated in a Book Tasting that allowed them to find books that interested them and provided them with opportunities to explore text they may not usually gravitate toward.

  • Saying Goodbye

    Saying goodbye is never easy. The end of this school year was extra hard as we wished these fine four ladies the best of luck in their retirement. They had a combined 59 1/2 years of service. We will miss Mrs. Gleason, Ms. Reimers, Mrs. Dantism, and Mrs. Hooker.

  • Olympics Take Over the Ridge

    During the month of February, the students at Marvin Ridge Middle school took part in a Global Event in honor of this year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Each Related Art class selected a country they wanted to explore. A team from each class studied many different aspects of that country, and created a presentation to share with the other Related Arts classes as the first event of the Olympics.

  • MRMS Drama Club

    The Marvin Ridge Middle School Drama Club always has a great time working on productions! To make each production successful, actors and crew members work together, putting in long hours of tech and rehearsal to make each show come to life. With every production, students learn new skills, such as teamwork, public speaking, leadership, and the ability to improvise.

  • Parent Volunteers Make the Ridge A Great Place to Work and Learn

    The Marvin Ridge Middle School PTSO is a charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the education experience for all students, supporting the school staff, and administration, and improving communication between the school and our parents. The PTSO is run by a group of dedicated parent volunteers who give their time and talents to serve our Marvin Ridge Middle School community. The PTSO has been able to do some incredible things to enhance the safety, education, and well-being of students and staff over the past several years.

  • Science Fun at Camp Thunderbird!

    The sixth grade at MRMS had an adventurous Halloween this school year, as it was spent at Camp Thunderbird! Students went to this outdoor learning center to discover ecosystems of various fauna and flora, and participated in group dynamic activities. These activities allowed students to interact with nature in an outdoor setting and gain a better appreciation for the world around them.

  • Student Council Helps Local Charity

    The MRMS Student Council led by Lisa Hansen (7th grade Math teacher) not only works to make our school a better place but they also go beyond the school campus to do important work in our community. Victory Junction, located in Randleman, NC, is the state charity for the North Carolina Association of Student Councils. Victory Junction allows children with medical conditions the opportunity to attend summer camp free of charge and try things they never imagined possible.

  • Medieval Times

    In 6th grade AIG Language Arts, Students completed a cross curriculum Social Studies unit. They read one or more independent medieval novels of their choice from the 5th to the 15th century time period.

  • Proportional Relationships

    As a math department 7th grade has been working through proportional relationships. Here the students engage in examining, defining, interpreting, converting and calculating proportional relationships as they make connections, that are fundamental concepts, for future connections in middle and high school math and science courses.

  • MRMS Student Wins Regional Spelling Bee!

    Congratulations to Eva Vega who won the 64th annual Charlotte Observer Regional Spelling Bee. The regional bee was held at Imaginon in Charlotte on February 19 and Marvin Ridge Middle School student Eva Vega was the winner!

  • Beta club convention

    Fourteen delegates from eighth grade represented MRMS at the NC Junior Beta Club state convention on February 5, 2018. Club sponsors, Tracy Wimbush (8th grade Language Arts teacher), and Amy Cass (Spanish teacher) accompanied the group to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete with schools all around the state.
