    Because hearing and vision are both important to your child’s ability to learn and progress in school, Union County Public Schools will be providing mass hearing and vision screenings for all 7th graders across the county.   • On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6:00 – 7:00, Marvin Ridge Middle School will CLEAR THE AIR ABOUT VAPING.  Mrs. Little and Mrs. Culicerto will talk with parents about the growing trend of vaping among adolescents. 
    Did you know: 

    • 90% of tobacco users start BEFORE the age of 18!
    • E-cigarettes are the most commonly used tobacco product among US middle and high school students.
    • 63% of Juul users don’t know that the product ALWAYS contains nicotine.

    Please join us to hear about why teens are “Juuling” and how the landscape of tobacco use has dramatically changed over the past 10 years.

  • Attention all 8th grade parents interested in the 2019 Washington DC trip.  The parent meeting that was scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, September 18th has been re-scheduled to next Tuesday, September 25th.  The meeting will be held in the MRMS pit area from 6-7 pm.  Please make sure you check the trip website at (You may get an error page when you click through on the link.  If so, please type in the weebly address).

  • The county has begun to use a program called Naviance.  Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps students align strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life. Naviance can be accessed on our MRMS webpage under the  Parents section and the UCPS Mobile App. You will need to stop by the front office with your ID to receive your parent code for access to this program. Should you have questions please contact your student’s grade level counselor or administration.

  • Union County Public Schools is pleased to introduce Read with U, our new community-based reading initiative that pairs elementary students with community members like you.

    Sign up to be a reading buddy this school year and spend 30 minutes per week reading with a first-grade student. If your business or organization would like to help students with reading, stay tuned for information about TutorMate, which will be introduced this fall at Title I elementary schools.

    Read with U is easy as 1-2-3

    1. Visit the Union County Public Schools website and click on Read with U to complete a volunteer application.
    2. Once your application is approved, contact the volunteer coordinator at your local elementary school to get started.
    3. Read with your student for at least 30 minutes once per week during the school year.

  • According to Carolina School Hub, Marvin Ridge Middle School is ranked #5 out of 133 middle schools in the Charlotte metro region and #11 out of 700 middle schools in the state. There are just two traditional/non-charter/non-magnet schools in the Charlotte metro area which rank above us, and only three traditional/non-charter/non-magnet schools in the state which rank above us.   • Duke TIP

    The Duke TIP Program is currently open to interested families for the following programs:

    • 4th-6th Grade Talent Search
    • 7th Grade Talent Search
    • Academic Adventures Program   (grades 5-6)
    • PSAT 8/9 Test Registration (for current 4th, 5th, and 6th graders enrolled in the 4th-6th grade Talent Search)
    • Scholar Weekend   (grades 8-11)

    In order for students to qualify he/she must have either a 95% or above on the EOG's OR a 125 or above on the Inview/IQ test.  These scores cannot be more than 2 years old.  Please see the link provided for additional information.
