Building An Outdoor Classroom, The Butterfly Project!
We are looking for sponsors to help us reach our goal for Phase 2! Our goal is to raise $15,000 to pay and install our steel frame butterfly. Bob Doster, our artist, has hand designed a unique butterfly memorial just for us. The very same artist that created the globe for the high school students at the main entrance. Once we have our funds, the memorial will be installed, the butterflies riveted on and the reminder for acceptance of all will stand.
Phase 2 is a large steel butterfly that will be placed on a concrete pad in the grassy area in front of our school. Each year the students will now paint a metal butterfly that will be adhered to this monument. This will be our own memorial that will grow each year showing our commitment to tolerance and acceptance of all. Click here to learn more!
The county has begun to use a program called Naviance. Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps students align strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life. Naviance can be accessed on our MRMS webpage under the Parents section and the UCPS Mobile App. You will need to stop by the front office with your ID to receive your parent code for access to this program. Should you have questions please contact your student’s grade level counselor or administration.

According to Carolina School Hub, Marvin Ridge Middle School is ranked #5 out of 133 middle schools in the Charlotte metro region and #11 out of 700 middle schools in the state. There are just two traditional/non-charter/non-magnet schools in the Charlotte metro area which rank above us, and only three traditional/non-charter/non-magnet schools in the state which rank above us. WOW! Everyone on this team is to be commended for that stellar news. Here’s a link with the full rankings:http://www.carolinaschoolhub.com/best-middle-schools-charlotte-nc.cfm.
