  • Porter Ridge High School is pleased to announce our new head baseball coach, Daniel Cooke.  Coach Cooke will be meeting with Baseball Players, interested players, and families on Tuesday July 24th at 6:30 pm.
Coach Cooke comes to Porter Ridge from Independence High School in Charlotte, where he was 86-70 in six seasons. At Independence, Coach Cooke’s teams won two Southwestern 4A Conference championships, won two conference tournament titles, and advanced to the state playoffs four times during his tenure.
Coach Cooke was named Southwestern 4A Conference Coach of the Year two times. He has coached four All-State players as well as 11 players who played at the collegiate level.
Coach Cooke graduated from Gardner-Webb University, where he was a standout football and baseball player. He still holds the career stolen base record at Gardner-Webb, with 93 total steals.
Coach Cooke and his family have recently moved to Indian Trail, and they are excited to be a part of the Porter Ridge community.
