    Tuesday, April 30th was the performance for our pre-K, kindergarten, first, and second grade students! Our theme was Barnyard Moosical. Over a period of eight weeks, students learned songs about cows, pigs, chickens, and goats!

  • Summer Safety Tips

    Summer is coming up which is the perfect time to review summer safety rules. It is important to review home alone rules such as reviewing emergency numbers. Water safety is also important. When in the water, always swim with a friend and swim in designated areas where a lifeguard may be present.

  • East Union Middle School Beta Club Reads with K-2 Classes

    East Union Middle School Beta Club came to read with the Pre-K through 2nd graders on Thursday April 11th. The First graders in Mrs. Jarzombek’s class loved having a middle schooler read with them.

  • Problem-Based Learning in AIG Class

    In our reading classes, we are working on Problem-Based Learning units. The students are given a problem in which they must research and collaborate to find a solution. 5th grade is working on The Black Death unit in which they are assigned a town in Italy during the Black Death breakout in Europe.

  • Fred Ingold Music Festival

    The second grade students of Union County attend the Fred Ingold Music Festival concert, held at Forest Hills High School. The Fred Ingold Festival is held every March and continues to be a special event among our second grade students.

    Our annual Math Olympics was held on February 28th. This yearly event brings parents and students togeter to play fun math games.

  • "Science on the move: Water Cycle Challenge"

    Students in Mrs. Johnson’s 5th grade class recently began learning about the water cycle. As part of their learning journey, they completed a water cycle challenge where they had to start at one station in the room, read a card at that station and follow it’s directions to the next station. Each station represented one part of the water cycle (Ocean, Atmosphere, Clouds, Ground, Plants, Rivers and Lakes, and Snow).

  • Collaborate and Create

    During science, Room 360, completed a collaborative activity where students created their own islands. Earlier in the week the class learned the different types of land-forms that are found throughout the world.

  • Veteran's Day Honor

    November 11 was Veteran’s Day Celebration in our country, and schools and most government businesses were closed. This year was the 100th anniversary of the ending of hostilities during WWI - - Armistice Day.

  • Union had special visitor, Fire Dog Camden

    Mrs. Jarzombek’s class collected the most box tops during the box top competition. They were able to have a visit from Kevin the Fire Marshall and the fire dog Camden.

  • Union Elementary’s Literacy Night

    Union Elementary Literacy night, which was called Camp-Read-A-Lot. Students and parents attended a presentation dealing with literacy at their child’s grade level.

  • Second grade getting to know classmates

    2nd grade students have spent the first few weeks focusing really hard on learning the rules and procedures. We have gotten to know each other by doing activities where we shared information about ourselves, our families and our friends. Students have learned about classroom expectations as well.

  • Gerri Thierbach, received a GEM award this year!

    The GEM, Graduates Esteeming Mentors, Awards are held every year at Forest Hills High School. This is an award in which the top ten students in the senior class choose a teacher that has had a major impact on them during their years at school.

  • Second Grade Release Butterflies

    As part of our previous science unit, 2nd graders studied Life Cycles. The objective of this unit was to ensure that students understood the life cycle of animals, starting from birth, growing into adults and any changes that take place in between. In order to help students truly understand this development, we hatched Butterflies in our classrooms.

  • Union Elementary Celebrating Career Day

    On May 4 Union Elementary experienced their first Career Day. We had four guests visit our school to speak to the third through fifth grade students about different careers. Our speakers consisted of a nurse, air technician, veterinarian, and a sheriff.
