    Inspired by their 5th-grade classmate, now in remission, who was diagnosed with retinoblastoma cancer of the eye at twenty-one months in 2010, the fifth-grade class has decided to support a local nonprofit organization this holiday season.

  • Fifth grade visits The Schiele Museum

    The Fifth grade visited The Schiele Museum where they had a great time learning about a variety of things to support a few of their science units! The students first started off with experimenting with different weather tools and learning about the major components involved in weather; such as wind, air pressure and different types of storms.

  • Jelly Bean Math!

    Fifth grade students in Mrs. Thomas’s math class tackled a challenging volume problem to extend their understanding of volume. Many students can identify the formula for volume of length times width time height, but they used their understanding to solve a tasty problem with huge results. “How many jelly beans would you need to fill our whole classroom?”

  • Waxhaw Elementary named PBIS Model School!

    Last year, 15 UCPS schools received state recognition for their Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) systems, the data-driven initiatives that improve social competence and academic achievement for students. The occasion marked the highest number of schools in district history to be recognized by the state for helping to create a positive and safe school-wide culture.

    After evaluating enrollment and school capacity data, Waxhaw Elementary has been named a School Choice School for the 2018-19 school year. If Waxhaw is not your "Home" school, you can apply to have your child attend Waxhaw. Transportation is not available for students who choose this process. Join our Wolf Pack for this upcoming school year!

    D.A.R.E. is about resisting drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. It is also about Communication, Peer Pressure, and Bullying. We did Dare for 11 weeks with Officer Vic.
