  • Meningococcal Vaccination Requirement
North Carolina requires a second dose of meningococcal vaccine for all students entering the 12th grade by August 1, 2020. According to NC law, this vaccine is required within 30 days of the first day of school. Students who remain non-compliant after the 30 day deadline are to be excluded from school until the vaccine is received. A copy of your child’s updated immunization must be presented to the school health office after this vaccination is received in order to provide proof that the vaccine has been given. If you have questions, you may contact Mrs. Sherry Robinson, our school nurse.

  • School Doorbell System
Implementation of this system has been delayed until January 22, 2020. Beginning on that date, the main exterior doors at Weddington High School will remain locked. All visitors will be required to ring the doorbell at the front of the school at which time a school employee in the main office will utilize a camera system to ensure that access should be granted. Please note that if you are not recognized by the individual manning the front office, you will be required to show your identification. This doorbell system is already in effect at most Union County Public Schools locations and will eventually be implemented at all 53 schools in the county. We ask for your patience with the use of this system as there may be a brief delay for stakeholders to enter the building. This is true for students who “flex” and should thus account for a few extra minutes each day to avoid being tardy for class. We apologize for any inconvenience that this new layer of security may create, but we remind you that the sole intent of the measure is to keep our students and staff safe and secure.
