CATA Starts Canine Club

CATA students interact with canine officer. On Thursday October 4th the Canine Club had two very special visitors from the Union County Sheriff’s Department as guest speakers.

Deputy Summey and his patrol canine, Darko, came to the meeting to talk to students about training dogs to work with the Sheriff’s Department and how canine vests can be used to help protect the dogs.

Deputy Summey answered questions from club members before bringing in Darko and allowing students to interact with him.

Deputy Summey’s and Darko’s visit came as the Canine Club is organizing a fundraiser for later this semester to raise money to help the Sheriff’s Department purchase vests for their canines.

Meeting Deputy Summey and Darko helped inspire club members to come up with ideas for the fundraiser and the Club is very grateful they were able to make time to visit Central Academy.Officer and canine officer Canine officer Darko
