CATA Clubs Raise Funds for Cancer Research

HOPE spelled out with luminaries The Hands Helping Others and Beta Clubs participated in the “Relay for Life” last week for the CATA Lifesavers. The “Relay for Life” is an event that collects money for cancer research through fundraising.

The event was held at Marvin Ridge High School’s track on Friday, May 10. The “Hands Helping Others” club sponsored a booth where its members sold henna tattoos and face painting.

Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers and patrons, and along with another event for Breast Cancer in October, the CATA Lifesavers collected $1,399 that will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

After an evening of fundraising and fun activities, the most moving and emotional moments of the walk took place. The field was dimmed, and the track was lit up by decorated luminaries in memorial of loved ones who lost their battle against cancer. In the bleachers stood luminaries that formed the word “HOPE.”

It was an honor for Hands Helping Others to participate in this important event. Thanks again to all who supported this cause.
