CATA Grad Publishes Book of Poetry

Book cover for poetry book Isaiah Hamilton, a 2018 CATA graduate, has just released a poetry book, “Look both ways before you cross my mind.” His self-published collection of poems is meant to help the next generation of young adults and share with them real thoughts and feelings. “The purpose of this book is to share my words and let the younger generation know that no matter what people tell you, your feelings are valid and that your talents whatever they may be should not be filtered by anyone.”

In talking with Isaiah, he commented, “CATA really prepared me for college and helped me work with all different kinds of people.” As a current Junior at UNC Greensboro majoring in Kinesiology, he felt his sports medicine class with Mr. Hammers really impacted his life. “It was my favorite class, with my favorite teacher.” When asked what advice he would give to current CATA students he replied, “Be yourself, work as hard as you can. When things get the most difficult that is when it matters, do it, get through it. You will thank yourself later.”

In addition, 60% of the sales are being donated to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Isaiah said, “I wanted to continuously support the next generation, and this is a great way to help. The donations from my book will help students be the change they want to see.” After just four days of sales, approximately $300 has been donated.
