Social Studies Students Celebrate Black History Month
Students in Ms. Laura Hibberd's World History and AP US History courses participated in two projects in honor of Black History Month in February. During the first week of February, students were tasked with choosing a North Carolinian they wanted to celebrate for Black History Month and to create a brief profile. Those profiles were collected and published as part of a presentation for the class and the community to learn more about Black History in North Carolina. That presentation is viewable here.
During the second week in February, students were tasked with reading a speech, poem, or short text by an African American writer from a provided list and creating a piece of “heart art” inspired by what they had read. Their heart arts were collected and published as part of a presentation for the class and community to view. That presentation is viewable here.
