“Creating a world with zero shoeless children.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s Feet, an organization that shares a message of hope and love through washing the feet of impoverished children in the U.S. and around the world and adorning them with new shoes.
The Samaritan’s Feet website states that 1.5 billion people are infected with foot-borne diseases that could be prevented with shoes and shoes are the fifth most needed item by students in the U.S.
The CHS FCA has made an annual event out of supporting Samaritan’s Feet with their “Barefoot for Bare Feet” basketball game and week-long fundraising efforts. Throughout this week, FCA members are selling footprint cutouts for a dollar each during lunches. Students can personalize the cutouts and they are hung all over the athletic wing. On Friday night, February 2, the coaches of both CHS and Parkwood will coach the basketball games in bare feet in order to raise awareness.
Donations will be accepted during the games and there will be a half-court-shot contest at halftime of each game for a dollar a shot to add to the fun. Donations may also be made by clicking this link. Our goal is to raise $1000 for Samaritan’s Feet.
The Men’s JV game is at 4:30, the Lady Cavs game is at 6:00 and the Men’s Varsity game is at 7:30 pm. Admission is $6.00.
Samaritan’s Feet has been able to serve over 6.5 million people worldwide. Everyone is invited to come on out and support Samaritan’s Feet as well as the CHS and Parkwood athletic teams! Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
