It’s official – the Cuthbertson High School Girls and Boys Track teams are STATE CHAMPIONS! The competition was held in Greensboro June 26, 2021.
The young ladies won their first ever 3A outdoor state championship and for the 5th year in a row the women took home a state championship! We had some record-breaking performances with two 3A state records in the 4x800 and @AlyssaPreisano in the 1600 who doubled back for the 800 as well!
We also had the following ladies score: Girls 4x400 (2nd), Justine Preisano (3rd) 800, Caroline Smith (3rd) high jump, Ava Studney (3rd), Ellie Sawicki (4th) shot put, girls 4x100 (4th), girls 4x200 (4th), Cassie Wooten (4th), Madeline Hill (4th), Lilly Nasta (5th) 1600, Isabelle Liu (6th) triple jump, and Lilly Nasta (6th) 3200! What an amazing day for all.
The young men won their first ever 3A state championship behind some amazing performances. We had state champions in all three sprint relays and the 400 meter champion Aidan McNally!
We also had podium finishes from Justin Sluiter (2nd) in high jump, Brandon Moore (2nd) in 300 Hurdles, Jacob Koerner (2nd) in the 200, Trevor Tate (3rd) in the discus, Zach Ross (4th) and our 4x800 who placed 4th. Not one young man competing placed in a position off of the podium for an absolutely perfect day!
The Cuthbertson Track head coach is Dustin Allen. Other coaches include Kirk Walsh – distance, Jeremy East - shot put, Derek Lemay – hurdles, John Liu - horizontal jumps, Chris McNair – sprints, Michael Hicks – discus, Keith Wood - pole vault, and Ashley Glover – distance.
