CMS Update May 10th from Mr. Murray
Good Evening Cavaliers this is Mr. Murray with your weekly update.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our fantastic moms of Cuthbertson!
On behalf of all our teachers and staff we would like to thank you for your kind and positive words via phone call, email, and social media in recognition of teacher appreciation week. Both our teachers and administration miss you and hope you are staying safe during this time!
The State Board of Education recently presented guidelines for grading for the remainder of the school year. It was determined that students in grades 6 to 8 would receive a designation of PC-19 or WC-19 as a final grade at the end of the school year. No numeric or letter grades will be given. PC –19 or (PASS) will be assigned to any student who was meeting expectations and passing as of March 11th or students who have worked to improve during this remote learning time. WC-19 will be assigned to students who were not passing as of March 11th and will not be based on teacher feedback provided during the remote learning process. Examples of this feedback would be “Missing Work” or “Incomplete Work” PLEASE NOTE: A WC-19 does NOT equate to a failing grade or retention. It does imply that students did not demonstrate mastery of standards in a particular content area and may need remediation. During this time of remote learning, both parents and students are encouraged to communicate with your teacher and monitor the feedback provided on Canvas, powerschool, email and other platforms.
At this time, grading for Middle School students taking High School classes is being determined and will be announced soon.
Please continue to encourage your child to make a commitment to completing all assignments provided by his/her teachers. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's grade level administrator.
As we follow the guidelines of our state and healthcare officials, please expect additional updates regarding end of the year procedures, instructions for students retrieving items left in the building and plans for the summer and upcoming school year.
