Meet our New Principal
Dear East Elementary Parents and Guardians,
My name is Matt Lasher and it is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of East Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education and strong community ties. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than sixteen years. I have worked with a variety of students' ranging in age from Kindergarten through and including college. My most recent administrative experience was at Monroe High School, Marvin Ridge High School, and Porter Ridge Middle School. Prior to working in an administrative capacity, I was a teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system for almost 9 years. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to East Elementary School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success and growth established at EES by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on academics, social and emotional learning, the use of data to drive instruction, and to provide consistent implementation of standards based curriculum in a rigorous manner to increase your students' achievement.
All of us East Elementary School are eager and excited to continue what promises to be the best year ever. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input.
I would like to invite you to “Coffee with the Principal” to meet me and ask any questions you have. The dates for the events are Monday, November 19th at 6pm in the East Elementary Media Center and Tuesday November 20th at 7:30am in the East Elementary Media Center.
I look forward to working with you as a collaborative team to help each student at EES meet their goals and have a successful school year.
