Union County Career Fair at EUMS
On November 17 2017, East Union had a career day for all grade levels.. There were different stations from different career fields, each with a goal to educate students on the many jobs that are available and popular in Union County. The students were very interested in learning about all these careers and having the opportunity to ask questions to each of the people representing their field. Ali Barrier, 8th grader at EUMS said, “I enjoyed learning about all the jobs in Union County. My favorite so far was the library because I love to read and she gave me a lot of information about the job. She is very inspiring.” 8th grader Carson Sells added, “I liked learning about all the jobs that are available for me in the future. My favorite so far was the foster care in Human Services because you can tell that they want to help kids and educate the community.”
8th grade social studies teacher, Mr. Saunders, was in charge of East Union’s career day. We interviewed him about his thoughts on the event so far. He said, “What started career day was a program in Union County that gave kids hands-on learning from a person who worked in the department that can give them a better understanding of the jobs. The kids seem to like the Transportation Department, the Sheriff's Department and the EMT stations the most today. I am very glad to be a part of this event, and I believe that this is going very successfully. I believe that the kids are enjoying themselves a lot.”
We would like to thank all the people who participated in educating the kids on their careers today, and for making this a very fun and educational experience!
