Junior Beta Club Visits Elementary Schools

On April 11th and 12th, 8th graders in East Union's Junior Beta club visited Marshville, Union, and Wingate Elementary to read with Pre-K, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders. The EUMS students read books that were chosen by the elementary students. Some of the younger students even read to the Beta club members. Beta member Dust Edwards said, “I enjoyed the fact that the kids wanted to participate." In the Pre-K classroom at Union, Beta students worked with the little ones in their learning centers around the room. At Marshville Elementary, one Beta student read books written in Spanish to the Spanish Immersion Kindergarten class.  Beta member Zoe Hicks said, “I enjoyed it because the kids were so sweet to us and gave us hugs."  During their visit at Wingate Elementary, some of the Beta club students helped the younger students with math. 8th grader, Evan Greene, felt like the experience was good for both the older and younger students. He said, “Their interest made it worth-while and fun to participate. I would definitely do it again!"
