Pilgrim's Pride and East Union team up for students

Pilgrim’s Pride and East Union Middle School are neighbors on Highway 74 in Marshville. Now, they are also partners in education. This summer, representatives from Pilgrim’s approached Dr. Cindy Croffut, principal at EUMS, about providing the school with funds to help in areas of need.  Dr. Croffut wrote a proposal stating that, “As we transition our instruction to a blended learning approach, we are in need of technology resources to support the teaching and learning to ensure our students continue their learning path.”

On Wednesday, December 16, Evans Sheppard and Adeleen Martinez of Pilgrim’s Pride presented Dr. Croffut with a $35,000 check.  The money will be used to purchase portable computer monitors for teachers to use in their online instruction. The money will also be used to purchase digital copies of books.  Students will use the digital resources to participate in virtual book clubs and to read books related to the topics they are learning about in their core classes.

East Union is very excited about this partnership with Pilgrim’s Pride.  To them we say, “Thank you for your interest in supporting our school. You are a valued member of our community and your support is greatly appreciated!”
