Second Grade Studies Sounds and Vibrations

Second graders have been busy studying sounds and vibrations. The students have been learning ways to recognize high and low pitches in songs and in voices. One of the most exciting activities was making their very own kazoos. Students used popsicle sticks, tape and rubber bands to create this musical instrument. Kayla Brackett in Mrs. Tarlton's class said, "I love being able to make my own instrument!" Yaryna Gutsulyak in Mrs. Erving's class was so excited to share her instrument with her family. "I liked the part when we were able to try them out in class." The students all had fun creating their own sounds and sharing them with friends.
