During the month of September, 1st graders learned all about citizenship. We learned about communities and what they might look like in rural, suburban and urban areas. Students compared the lives of other children in those areas.
In our classroom, good citizenship means students are listening and following directions, treating others with respect and kindness. Students drew pictures and wrote about being good citizens in our classroom. Some students drew pictures of themselves playing nicely with others, sitting correctly on the carpet or sharing with a friend. We made charts to remind ourselves what being a good citizen in a classroom means. We enjoyed getting to know all our new students.
