Latino College Night a Success
On Tuesday, September 21, 2021 Forest Hills High School hosted a Hispanic College Night. Spanish-speaking students and families heard from Dr. JuanEs Ramirez, the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) State Representative for Spanish Services, about preparing, applying, and paying for college.
Along with Dr. Ramirez were the Coordinator of UCPS Latino Outreach, Gustavo Arevalo, FHHS College Adviser, Ms. Lucy Prothero, Lead ESL Counselor, Mr. Alex Lago, and FHHS English Language Facilitator Mrs. Marisol Uribe (pictured below).
UCPS Latino Outreach and CFNC partnered to bring this important information to these parents and families in their first language. FHHS College Adviser Lucy Prothero said, “There was a great turnout, and I can't wait to see what our students do next!”
CFNC provides numerous resources for all students, parents, and educators about planning, applying, and paying for college. Visit their website at cfnc.org for more information. All information provided is accessible in English and in Spanish.
