UCPS to hold six bond information meetings
On Nov. 8, Union County voters will decide on $134,405,000 million in school bonds. Union County Public Schools (UCPS) will hold six informational meetings about the 2022 bond package and explain the bond history in the county, why we need this bond and the 10-year plan to address capacity, new construction and facility upgrades and renovations. In addition, community members will be able to see renderings of the proposed new schools.Spanish translation will be available.
UCPS is committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education in safe and efficient learning environments. This bond package will address aging facilities and replace current buildings for East Elementary and Forest Hills High, schools that were built in the 1950s and 1960s. The district has more than $800 million in facility needs to address renovations, upgrades and future planning. The 2022 bond will build on previous investments and provide adequate facilities for students, additional space for academic and athletic programs, expand dining and multi-purpose areas and remove mobile units.
