Does your child love to read? Does your child love to read but may have a hard time finding that ‘just right’ book? Consider having him/her join Marvin Elementary’s Battle of the Books team for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) program is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. The program consists of reading 15 critically acclaimed books and coming together weekly (after school) to discuss and prepare to answer trivia questions regarding the books. In the spring, twelve members of our program will compete against other elementary schools in our district to determine who has the most knowledge of the books on the list. Our twelve member team is chosen by a points system. Students earn points for attendance, question writing, and a test which will cover the first six books that we will read (refer to the reading list for the order). Our twelve member team will be chosen after our November 6th meeting. After November 6th only the twelve member team will continue to meet.
If you would like to learn more about our program please visit the media center web site located on our school’s homepage. Sign-ups for our Battle of the Books team will occur in September.
