EBOB is a program that is sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). Each year the NCSLMA chooses fifteen books based upon literary merit, reading level difficulty, and genre. Schools that choose to participate in the EBOB program create teams of fourth and fifth graders who read and study the books and prepare to answer questions about the books in order to participate in a ‘quiz bowl’ style competition. Our school district’s competition is held in March and each school is allowed to bring twelve students to compete.
In order to participate in EBOB students are required to read six books on their own by October 21st. Note that there will be no after school meetings until the twelve member team is determined. During the week of October 21st students who would like to be considered for our EBOB team will take a test during their media class time which will cover the six required books. The twelve member team will be chosen based upon the results of the test. Beginning on Tuesday, November 12th our twelve EBOB team members will begin to meet and will continue to meet each Tuesday from 2:00-3:30pm until the district EBOB competition in March.
