Marvin Ridge High School students earn top honors in annual “Make It In Union County” Manufacturing Week contest

 MRHS Students earn top honors in annual "Make It In Union County" Manufacturing Week contest October 4, 2018 (Waxhaw, NC) – Six Marvin Ridge High School Marketing Education students were recently named as county finalists in the annual “Make it in Union County” Manufacturing Week student contest.  Morgan Finlay was recognized as a top five finalist in the Graphic category; Melissa Starr, Dylan Macleod, Sebastian Havala, and Sophia Freeman were named as a top five finalists in the Presentation category; and Ishan Dalsania was named as a top five finalist in the Video category.  Two of those students, Morgan Finlay and Melissa Starr, were also named first Place Winners in their area of competition, which also earned each of them a $100 BB&T gift card.  Ishan Dalsania was the second place winner in the Video category, and Sebastian Havala placed third in the Presentation category.

The annual project contest is a partnership between UCPS, the Union County Chamber of Commerce, and local manufacturing companies.  The contest encourages students to research and better understand the overall manufacturing industry, with particular focus on the exciting high tech processes and equipment used in producing products that are sold throughout America and used on a daily basis.  Students also had the chance to learn more about the myriad of manufacturing, marketing, sales, and business career opportunities that are available locally in Union County.
